Valentine season

Valentine's Photo Favorites

You do not need forty versions of the same portrait. You need the one where the light was right. Cleanor lines up the near-identical frames so you can choose and let the rest go.

This season

Why this moment feels timely

Around Valentine’s, you go looking for one photo. The good one of the two of you, the one worth printing or sending, and it is buried in a run of twenty frames that all look almost the same.

Cleanor gathers those near-identical runs into a single group and shows them together. You pick the frame that works and clear the rest without scrolling back through a year of camera roll.

What to clean

Where Cleanor helps first

The clutter worth going after this season, and a sensible order to do it in.

What Cleanor looks at

  • Near-identical portrait sets
  • Duplicate couple and group shots
  • Saved screenshots and reposts
  • Side-by-side keep or delete

How to approach it

  • Open the similar-photo groups first. Portraits cluster there, and picking a favorite is far faster when the alternatives are already side by side.
  • Judge on one thing at a time: eyes open, hands sensible, background not distracting. Comparing on everything at once is how a decision stalls.
  • Once you have the keeper, delete the other nineteen in the same pass. Coming back later means making the same choice twice.
The longer version

Why this is worth doing now

Nobody takes one photo of a person they like. They take nine, shifting the phone slightly each time, hoping one of them catches the expression right. That habit is why portraits are the most duplicated thing on any iPhone, and why the good frame is almost always hiding inside a run of eight that are nearly identical to it and quietly worse.

February is when that becomes a problem you notice, because it is when you go looking. Something to print, something to send, something to put in a frame. Scrolling for it means passing the same face nine times in a row and slowly losing confidence about which version you preferred in the first place. The choice only gets harder the longer you leave it.

Cleanor puts the whole run in one place and asks you a small question: which of these do you want. You answer it once, keep the frame that caught it, and the eight rehearsals go. What is left is not so much a smaller camera roll as an honest one, where the photo you remember taking is the photo you find, without the near-misses standing in front of it.
