How HEX and RGB work
A hex color is #RRGGBB: two hexadecimal digits (00-FF, i.e. 0-255) each for red, green and blue. #FF0000 is full red, #00FF00 full green, #0000FF full blue, #000000 black and #FFFFFF white. RGB is the same three values written in decimal: rgb(255, 0, 0) is the same as #FF0000. To convert hex to RGB, split into the three pairs and read each as a base-16 number.
