OGA (Ogg audio)
Also known as: Ogg audio, .oga file, ogg vorbis audio
OGA (.oga) is the audio-only extension for the open Ogg container, used to signal that a file holds sound rather than video. The audio inside is usually Vorbis, Opus, or FLAC. Many systems handle .oga the same as .ogg, and both are commonly converted to MP3 for wider device support.

What OGA is
OGA is part of the open, royalty-free Ogg family. The .oga extension specifically labels an audio-only Ogg file, while .ogv is used for video and the generic .ogg can be either. The actual codec inside is typically Vorbis or Opus, both lossy, or FLAC, which is lossless.
Because it is open and free of licensing fees, Ogg audio is widely used on the web, in games, and in open-source software, but it is less common on consumer phones and stereos.
Playing and converting OGA
Browsers, VLC, and most Android devices play .oga, but Apple Music and some hardware do not. If a file will not open, renaming .oga to .ogg sometimes helps players recognize it, since they share the same container.
For maximum compatibility — car stereos, older phones, simple players — convert OGA to MP3 or AAC.
