PRC (Mobipocket)
Also known as: .prc file, Mobipocket ebook, Palm Resource file
PRC is an ebook file most often associated with Mobipocket, the technology behind early Kindle books. A .prc file is closely related to MOBI and was readable on Palm and early Kindle devices; modern readers prefer EPUB or AZW3.

What PRC is
PRC began as a Palm "resource" container and became the file extension Mobipocket used for ebooks. Mobipocket’s technology fed into the early Kindle, so .prc and MOBI are closely related formats.
A .prc holds reflowable book text and basic formatting. With MOBI and the newer AZW3 dominating, PRC is now an older variant you mostly encounter in legacy ebook collections.
Reading PRC files
Many e-reader apps still open .prc directly, and conversion tools turn DRM-free files into EPUB for current devices.
Like other ebooks, PRC files are small and never a storage concern. Convert them for compatibility, not to save space.
