How to convert area units
Enter the area as a single number, select the unit you have, and select the unit you want. All ten area units, from square millimeters to square miles, update at once in the table below the result.
The base unit is the square meter and each factor is exact, so imperial and metric areas stay consistent to 12 significant figures rather than drifting through a chain of rounded conversions.
- Multiply out any dimensions first so you have one area number.
- Type it into the Value box, for example 100.
- Pick the From unit, for example Square meter, and the To unit, for example Square foot.
- Read the result and check the acre or hectare rows if you are dealing with land.
- Copy the result, or Copy JSON to take the whole table into a spreadsheet or script.
