About this probability calculator

This probability calculator handles the two questions people ask most. First, it turns a count of favorable outcomes over total outcomes into a probability, a percentage and the odds against. Second, it combines two events: enter P(A) and P(B) as decimals or percentages and it returns P(A and B), P(A or B) and each complement. Events are treated as independent unless you supply P(A and B) yourself, in which case it also computes the conditional probabilities P(A given B) and P(B given A). Everything is calculated in your browser and updates as you type.

FAQ

Common questions

Short answers for the questions people usually have before trying a utility like this.

How do I enter a probability?

Type a decimal between 0 and 1, such as 0.25, or a percentage such as 25%. The calculator accepts either format for P(A) and P(B).

Does it assume the events are independent?

Yes, by default. P(A and B) is computed as P(A) times P(B). If your events are not independent, enter the known P(A and B) and the tool will use that value for P(A or B) and the conditional probabilities.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. All calculations run locally in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
