How this due date calculator works
The standard estimate (Naegele's rule) adds 280 days to the first day of the last menstrual period, based on a 40-week pregnancy counted from that date. Conception-date and IVF-transfer methods use the same underlying 266 days from conception, adjusted for how many days old the embryo was at transfer. Only a small share of babies arrive on the exact estimated date; a normal full-term birth spans roughly 3 weeks before to 2 weeks after it.
