Is it a translator?
No. It fixes layout mistakes by remapping keystrokes only; it does not translate the meaning of your text. It also never uploads what you paste.
How does it know which layout was wrong?
It does not know, it guesses. All four conversions are computed, and each is scored by how many letters it contains and how many runs of two or more letters it produces, with the runs counting double. Real words produce long letter runs and gibberish does not, so the correct conversion usually scores highest. It is a heuristic, and the alternates are shown so you can override it.
It picked the wrong candidate. What now?
Look at the alternate candidates listed below the best correction. All four results are always computed and displayed, so the answer you want is almost certainly one of the other three. Short strings are where the scorer is weakest, because there are not enough letter runs to separate the options.
What happens if I paste text that is already correct?
It gets converted anyway. The tool has no null option and always returns the highest-scoring of the four conversions, so correct English text comes back as Cyrillic gibberish. That is a sign you did not need this page, not a bug.
Can it fix a sentence where only some words are wrong?
Not per word. The conversion is applied to the whole input, so a sentence that mixes correctly typed words with mistyped ones will have the correct words broken by the fix. Paste only the affected fragment.
Which layouts are covered?
English QWERTY, Russian ЙЦУКЕН and Ukrainian ЙЦУКЕН, in both directions between English and each of the other two. The Ukrainian layout differs from the Russian one in four letters, which is why it is a separate pair rather than an approximation.
Does anything get sent to a server?
No. All four conversions and the scoring happen in the page. There is no lookup, no API and no logging, so the text you paste stays in the tab.
