About this quartile calculator

Sort the data and split it at the median; Q1 is the median of the lower half and Q3 the median of the upper half (with an odd count the median itself is left out). 3, 7, 8, 9, 12, 12, 15 has median 9, lower half 3, 7, 8 (Q1 = 7) and upper half 12, 12, 15 (Q3 = 12). Excel’s QUARTILE.INC interpolates instead and gives Q1 = 7.5.
